Unplayable Shows vs South Africa: The pace duo wreaked havoc in the first T20I.Played against South Africa on Wednesday in Thiruvananthapuram.

The duo took the rattled batsmen for a ride. It reduced them to 9/5 in 2.3 overs, with for a golden duck. 

The visitors have set a new record, with 9/5 being the lowest figure in the fall of the fifth wicket against India by any team in T20I cricket. Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. Chahar’s decision proved wise, as he removed visiting captain Temba Bavuma for a duck in the first over of South Africa’s innings.  

Arshdeep took the wickets of Quinton de Kock in his second over. Rilee Rossouw and David Miller off was removed in consecutive balls and added salt to the South African team’s wounds. Chahar got off-spinner Tristan Stubbs caught by the third man in the third over of the innings to score the final over in a powerplay.

South Africa’s worst ever start and the lowest five-wicket haul in T20I cricket was reduced to the loss of five wickets for nine runs.
 South Africa had a low score at the fall of the fifth wicket.

The visitors survived the power play to score 30/5. It was India’s third best powerplay bowling performance in T20I cricket. It is India’s second-best performance with the ball at home, after a 29/5 win over Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam in 2016.

Maharaj scored 41 runs off 35 balls to help South Africa reach the century mark. Harshal Patel’s brilliant yorker ended his stay at the club. Only Markram, Parnell, and Maharaj scored in double figures. India defeated South Africa by 106/8 at the end of 20 overs.
