November 15,1989: Sachin Tendulkar And Pakistan’s Waqar Younis Make Test Debuts In The Same Match

It was one of the memorable moments when Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and legendary Pakistan’s Cricketer Waqar Younis made their first international match debut in the year 1989 against each other.

The match was played between India and Pakistan in Karachi and the result turned out to be a draw. During that match, Younis dismissed Tendulkar for 15. The ICC twittered,”The Rest, As they say, is history.” This post got a lot of praise from netizens, who hailed them as the “Combo Debutants”. Many users paid their tributes to these cricketing legends.

As time passed, Tendulkar wrote his name in cricketing history as the “Greatest Batsman of all Time” and was nicknamed “Master Blaster”. On the other hand, Younis is considered one of the finest bowlers to come out of Pakistan. He also made his name known as one of the most lethal reverse swing bowlers ever. Younis, in his international cricket, got  373 wickets in Test matches and 416 scalps in ODIs. Presently, he is the bowling coach of Pakistan Cricket Team.

Sachin bid farewell to international cricket in 2013. He is the highest run achiever in both Tests and ODIs. He also achieved most centuries in International matches. He is the sixth Indian cricketer to get inducted in ICC’s Hall of Fame.

The 46-year-old cricketer started his career at the very young age of 16. He achieved fame to become India’s most adored cricketer. He is now the mentor of Mumbai Indians in the IPL(Indian Premier League).
