Bangladesh made history by winning their first-ever T20I game against India. Mushfiqur Rahim’s unbeaten 60 helped Bangladesh chase a winning score of 149 on Sunday.
But the Chief Selector of Bangladesh Cricket Board Minhajul Abedin was seen warning senior cricket players that they shouldn’t take their place for granted and said that the performances of newcomers were promising.
In the ongoing tour of India, the absence of Bangladesh former skippers, Shakib al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, has hit the side hard but the performances of young players in the first T20I series were very impressive.
Minhajul said, “Shakib could not play the final match in Ireland. Now we should not think about who’s playing and who’s not. Whoever plays he has to utilize the platform. Nothing waits for anyone. When someone gets an opportunity, he has to play good and get established,”
He added “So what we have been trying to do for the last three months is, our High Performance and ‘A’ team have played a lot of matches, much like the national team. They [have] already learned about the experience of playing an international match playing there (with A-team). Because of this, Biplob, Naim – they did not seem that they were far from the international arena.”
Previously, Mahmudullah, the present captain of Bangladesh cricket team, said the win against India was a big achievement for players and country.
“The last three months of nursing have done enough good. This is a great achievement like beating India on the Indian field,” Abedin added.
The second T20I series of India vs Bangladesh is scheduled to take place at Rajkot on November 7.
