Chahar, Team India’s New Asset For T20 World Cup 2020: Gambhir

Deepak Chahar set a new world record on Sunday in Nagpur when he became the first Indian to bag a hat trick in T20 international. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Monday called him a “big asset” for Team India in the next year’s World Cup T20 in Australia.

On Monday,  in an exclusive interview were with Republic TV, Gautam Gambir said, “I am very happy for him. He can swing the ball & he can bat as well, he is a brilliant fielder. So I am really happy for him and I hope that he grows on the future as well.”

When asked about whether Deepak could become the biggest armor for Team India, Gambhir said, “It will be too early to say that he is among the best for India for T20 World Cup which is far ahead. And when you get the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar back I am sure it will be hard but then he is doing all the correct things and if he keeps doing it he will be right there for the T20 World Cup. But he should not be thinking about that he should be thinking about every game he is playing for the country.”

When asked whether this would be the right combination for the T20 World Cup, Gambhir said: “Its a long way forward. It was just Bangladesh. When you play against teams like England, Australia and New Zealand that is when your bench strength and the team will be examined. I am sure India will do well because India has always enjoyed Australian surroundings. But again we should not be thinking too ahead and should be focusing on the current position.”
