Australia Beats Rejuvenated Bangladesh and Remain On The Top

Australia has a good start after winning the toss, Both the openers had good partnership before the finch getting out, Khajwa joined Warner and the continue to build the partnership. warners century helped Australia post a huge chance for Bangladesh, Maxwell played a defining knock 30. Bangladesh bowlers have no clue where to bowl.

Bangladesh started their innings on a good note but the fielding of finch got them the first wicket and Shakib and Tamim had a good stay at the wicket by scoring the runs as per run rate. Once this two fell Raheem and Muhammedullah had good partnership was Raheem went on to score his 7 ODI hundred.

In the end, 48-run win for Australia to see them to the top of the points table with ten points. But spare a thought for Bangladesh who never gave up despite a herculean task in front of them and posted their highest-ever ODI total. They still have a chance to make to the semi-finals. But the star of the game was, undoubtedly, David Warner, who posted 166 off 147 balls on a sluggish track. He has now overtaken Shakib Al Hasan as the leading run-scorer of the tournament.

Aaron Finch:

Every time the team gets some partnership, yes. A couple of changes were forced when you lose your allrounder. So just toying with ideas but also relying on the surface. If it’s a dry wicket, we might have two spinners. [On fielding] Very sloppy, early on it was a bit slippery but no excuses. Not thinking about the semi-finals as of now. [On his form] The wickets have been pretty nice to bat on.

Mashrafe Mortaza:

I think we conceded 40-50 runs more, otherwise, it could have been different. Mushy, Shakib, Tamim batted very well. Riyad was very good towards the end. That’s the best ODI side we ever had. To be honest, we were positive from the first ball. After Soumya got out, Tamim and Shakib kept going but 381 was too much to get.

David Warner – Man of the Match:

Obviously, it’s a great achievement (to equal Adam Gilchrist’s 16 hundred). For us, it’s about getting the 2 points and moving onto the next game at Lord’s. I think you always keep wickets in hand in ODIs. It’s the way we play. We don’t intentionally go after it on purpose. You have to respect the new ball. If you get off to a flier, you go ahead with the momentum you have. The bowlers bowled well to us in patches. It’s about knocking it around and try to target 6-8 an over after that in the middle overs. You have to adapt to the conditions, and it’s about momentum after that. If you get off to a flier, it’s about assessing, how many wickets you lost, and how to go about the middle overs.

It was a little slow, the wicket, but credit to the way Bangladesh fought. Mushfiqur played a fantastic inning. It was a grind for the bowlers, very difficult to get wickets out there, but it was great to get those two points in the end.
