Ashwin Is A Guy Who Likes To Be Aggressive: WV Raman

As of now, the Test series involving England and India has been extremely exciting. India won the Lord’s Test with a dramatic triumph, but England even the series with a win in the 3rd Test. However, Ravi Ashwin’s absence from the 1st 3 Tests has been a major source of discussion recently. Here is WV Raman On The Ashwin And Jadeja Debate.

Several more cricketing professionals advised having both Jadeja and Ashwin in the lineup after India’s defeat by an innings and 76 runs. Former India cricketer WV Raman is the most recent person to express his views on the subject. He said that Virat Kohli’s choice about whether or not to select Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin will be difficult.

“If you play Jadeja and an Ashwin, what are the individual temperaments? For example, my view of them is that Virat can tell Jadeja what he expects from him and perhaps even insist, what I expect from you. Whereas, in the case of Ashwin, he is a guy who likes to be aggressive, go for wickets, and who has his own mind”.

Jadeja’s is a different way of doing things: WV Raman

“It’s not that Ashwin is not for the team, he is for the team but he has his own way of doing things. Jadeja’s is a different way of doing things,” WV Raman said.

For the third match in a row, India’s ace spinner Ashwin has been left out of the starting XI. As India continued to field 4 pacers, Jadeja was chosen instead of him as the lone spinner. Following Shardul Thakur’s injury before the 2nd Test, it was expected that the top-off-spinner would take his position. India, on the other hand, chose Ishant Sharma, a seasoned speedster.

WV Raman believes that the captain will have to consider an individual’s disposition before making a decision. He went on to say that it’s not just about the stats since there’s a lot more that goes into the player selecting process.

“So the captain will also look at the temperament of an individual and then assess. So there are a lot of things that go into deciding who’s playing and who’s not playing, it’s not just the numbers alone,” Raman added.
