CSK’s Death Bowling Is A Concern For CSK- Irfan Pathan

Last night, a mammoth total of 219 runs were chased by Mumbai Indians and we witnessed the Keiron Pollard show, everything he was hitting was out of the park and Mumbai Indians managed to chase the total on the last ball for all-important two points. Kieron Pollard scored a breath-taking 87* off just 34 deliveries to help Mumbai Indians win the match.

We saw Sam Curran bowling some incredible yorkers in the death overs but it did not come from other bowlers. Pollard was hitting all the lengths out of the park except yorkers.

We saw Pollard toying around with Lungi Ngidi and Shardul Thakur. CSK speedsters duo recorded spells of 4-0-62-0 and 4-0-56-1 respectively at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

During a discussion on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan replied in the affirmative when asked if the lack of penetration in the CSK bowling is a concern for them.

Irfan Pathan Said That Inability To Bowl Yorkers In Death Overs Can Be A Concern For CSK

Irfan Pathan said that the inability to bowl yorkers in the death is a concern for the franchise.

“Absolutely and that was seen today as well. Yes, the Mumbai Indians batted very well, but it was all bad bowling if you see the shots. I feel you need to especially have bowlers who can bowl the yorkers, the Chennai Super Kings do not have any such bowler” said Pathan during a chat with Star Sports.

Can you give a name who can bowl six yorkers under pressure? RCB has Siraj, Mumbai Indians have Bumrah and he gets support from Trent Boult at the other end. In Delhi, you get Rabada,” he added.

No One Bowled Yorkers Properly Except Sam Curran: Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathans Chennai-based franchise has got a good all-round team with seven or eight bowling options. However, he reckoned that death bowling has been a concern for them.

There is no doubt CSK has a good all-round team, they have 7-8 bowling options but they do not have one or two bowlers who can defend the runs at the death on difficult pitches,” said Pathan.

“The ball was not getting wet today. If the ball gets wet, you face a lot of difficulties in bowling the yorker. Sam Curran showed how it can be done, bowled some good yorkers, but no one bowled yorkers properly after that one over. They will have to perform better if CSK wants to win the tournament,” he signed off
