Nurul Hasan ruled out of Asia Cup 2022, BCB likely to reveal squad by Thursday

Bangladesh’s wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to a finger injury.

Nurul met with the injury during the second T20I against Zimbabwe, and later on missed the final T20I, followed by the ODI series.

Earlier, Nurul was appointed as the captain of team Bangladesh for the T2OI series against Zimbabwe, but after he sustained an injury Mosaddek Hossain was given the charge. While the season Mahmudullah was called up as his replacement.

“A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan’s left index finger by hand surgeon Dr. Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury was quoted as saying in a statement.

With Asia Cup going to start in some days, Bangladesh has yet to announce their squad and the Asian Cricket Council on this has given an extension to name their squad for the fifteenth edition of the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh was facing the injuries issues with their players as previously Yasir Ali Chowdhury and Mohammad Saifuddin were ruled out of the Zimbabwe series.

The Asia Cup returned after a gap of 4 years, this time the marquee event will be played in the T20 format, as Asian Cricket Council decided it to be played in the shortest format to help Asian giants ready for the upcoming ICC T20 World in Australia.

Bangladesh reached the final of the Asia Cup 2018. However, they lost the game to India but it was a good match as the Tigers gave a tough fight to the men in blue.

The fifteenth edition of the Asia Cup will begin on August 27. Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan in the opening match. While Bangladesh will start its campaign on August 30 against Afghanistan.
