Gill and Pujara’s Century enables India to set a target of 513 for Bangladesh at the end of Day 3

India vs Bangladesh, First Test Match Day – 3 Updates

Pujara’s Century: After the conclusion of the third day- third session, Bangladesh’s openers were still unbeaten after cutting the goal of 513 runs to 471. However, India controlled Day 3 nearly completely, which included three fifty-run stands and two centuries.

KL Rahul, the captain of India, decided not to enforce the follow-on after Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took the final two wickets of Bangladesh in the first hour. India had only added 17 runs to Bangladesh’s overnight total and the leggie had taken a five-for in his first Test in 22 months.

India then declared after scoring 258 runs for the loss of just two wickets. Shubman Gill, a young player, reached his first century, while Cheteshwar Pujara’s Century, a veteran, reached his 19th century, his first in 52 innings.

Brilliant Innings – Pujara’s Century

Pujara’s Century: In the opening Test against Bangladesh at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Friday, India Test ace Cheteshwar Pujara recorded his quickest Test century. Pujara reached his first Test century after 1,443 days as he achieved his 19th Test century. Shubman Gill and Pujara partnered for a tonne of runs for the KL Rahul-led squad in the second innings of the series opener.

First Test Century by Shubham Gill

On the other hand, After making his Test debut in December 2020, Gill earned his first century in his 12th match. Gill has played six innings of cricket and this is also his first century.

Gill was batting against Bangladesh bowlers left and right, but he was sadly bowled out by Mehidy Hasan in the day’s third test match’s second innings in the 50th over. With 10 fours and three sixes, he scored an amazing 110 runs off 152 balls. Granting the much-needed lead to team India.

Bangladesh Hanging by the ropes

The pair’s steadfast resistance undermined any slim opportunity Bangladesh may have had of bringing about any form of collapse. Over the previous two hours, the rate of scoring has also accelerated significantly, giving the hosts a difficult task. There are still six full sessions remaining.

Bangladesh’s Position at the end of day 3

Right now, Bangladesh’s primary priority is to survive. India, on the other hand, needs to be patient on this slow surface because they still have a tonne of runs to score. Please come back to watch the fourth day of play tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. local time.

IND- 404 & 258/2 d
BAN- 150 & 42/0*
