Ashleigh Gardner claims no.1 position in latest ICC Women’s T20I All-rounders’ Ranking

Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has surpassed West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, India’s Deepti Sharma, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine to claim a career-best No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings for all-rounders, which were released on Tuesday.

Gardner, who received the Player of the Match in the final game for her 32-ball unbeaten 66 and bowling figures of 2/20, has topped the all-rounders’ list for the first time after moving up three spots following a closely contested five-match T20I series that Australia won 4-1.

With Matthews dropping two spots (381) to fourth, Gardner (417 points) holds a commanding lead over Devine (389) and Deepti (387) in second and third place, respectively.

In the most recent weekly update, the 25-year-old Australian is also up two spots to a career-best seventh position among batters and up three spots to a career-best 14th position among bowlers.

Deepti Sharma at third position

Deepti Sharma, who is third among all-rounders with 387 points, is maintaining a similar position in the T20I bowlers’ rankings while moving up three spots to 29th in the batting rankings thanks to her 34-ball 53 in the fifth and final T20I.

Smriti Mandhana of India is third among batters with 727 points, while Tahlia McGrath of Australia is first with 814 points, followed by Beth Mooney of the same nation (760 points). Jemimah Rodrigues of India dropped two spots (607) to land in 12th place among batters.

ICC Women’s ODI Rankings 

Talking about ODI rankings, former New Zealand skipper Suzie Bates, who scored a half-century in the Women’s Championship series’ abandoned final match against Bangladesh has moved up two spots to rank 15.

The skipper of Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana, who climbed up three spots to 43rd place among batters, retained her place while Nahida Akter of Bangladesh, has moved up to 30th place.

Elyyse Perry also climbed up one spot to tenth.

Captain and Vice-Captain of team India Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, s have retained their places at fifth and sixth, respectively, while Australia’s star batter and standby captain on India’s tour, stayed on top with 785 points, with Beth Mooney at second place with 749 rating.

Sophie Ecclestone retained her top spot in ICC ODI bowlers ranking with 751 points. While Ellyse Perry also retained her position in the list of all-rounders.

The next big series lined up is between Australia and Pakistan. Both teams will face each other in 3-match ODI and as many matches in T20Is in Australia.

While India, South Africa and West Indies will lock horns in the tri-series in East London.

These series will be practice time for all the teams before the mega ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 event, which starts from February 10.
