Border-Gavaskar Trophy India Test Squad: The India team for the first two Test matches of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was also named by the All-India Senior Selection Committee.

The tour will officially begin on February 9 in Nagpur. Additionally, this year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which includes a four-match Test series, will be its final edition.

Other Expected but Unexpected Inclusion of Players

Following his tireless efforts in T20I cricket, the selection committee has opted to thrust Suryakumar Yadav into the red-ball setup. The 32-year-old has received his first call-up to the Test squad, and if the team chooses to play bravely, Sky may very well receive his maiden cap next month.

Jasprit Bumrah, India’s top pacer, was left off the selection and will continue to recover from his injury while sitting out. Bumrah was scheduled to participate in the current ODI series against Sri Lanka, but the BCCI chose not to take a chance on him at the last minute and dropped him from the Sri Lanka ODI Series.

Maiden Call-up for Ishan Kishan

Another intriguing inclusion is the first-time selection of left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan to the Test squad. In first-class cricket, Kishan has scored 2985 runs at an average of 38.76. With a best score of 273 against Delhi in the 2016–17 Ranji season.

Ishan Kishan will be a direct replacement for Rishabh Pant. Who missed out on the Squad selection due to a Car accident he suffered in December.

Bowling Unit

Discussing the bowling lineup for the first two tests. India has many possibilities that have accrued value through time. The pace bowling trio, which consists of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Jaydev Unadkat as well as the fast bowling front. Which would probably prevent Bumrah’s absence from being noticed.

Jaydev Unadkat is Back after 12 years

In a recent Elite B group encounter against Delhi in Rajkot. Saurashtra captain Unadkat became the first player to take a first-over Ranji Trophy hat-trick.

Dhruv Shorey, Vaibhav Rawal, and Yash Dhull were dropped from the third, fourth, and fifth deliveries of the game by Unadkat. The captain of Saurashtra in the recent Ranji Trophy game.

India’s lineup for the first two Test matches against Australia

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Suryakumar Yadav.
