T20 World Cup: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Bowls The Highest Number of Maidens in T20Is 

Bhuvneshwar achieved the mark while opening the bowling for India in the 2022 T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Zimbabwe in Melbourne on Sunday. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has now bowled the highest Number of Maidens in T20I cricket. Jasprit Bumrah is second with nine.

Bhuvneshwar reached the milestone on Sunday in Melbourne during India’s 2022 T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Zimbabwe. Wesley Madhevere was caught by Kumar after his first ball, which resulted in a wicket.

Senior India fast bowler scripted Bhuvneshwar Kumar history at the T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday. The right-arm fast bowler overcame his India compatriot Jasprit Bumrah to record the highest number of maidens overs in T20 history.  The veteran was once again at the top of his game as India scripted a fine 71-run win over Zimbabwe.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar started the proceedings in Zimbabwe’s innings in their final Super 12 Group 2 clash with a wicket maiden to achieve the feat. In a fast-paced T20s, the Meerut Express has now recorded 10 maiden overs from 84 matches. He has scalped 89 wickets in the format from 2012 with the best bowling figures of 5/4. The premier Indian fast bowler has a decent economy rate of 6.93 in the format.

Bumrah who missed the ICC T20 world Cup this year due to an Injury, in second on the list with nine maiden overs to his name. Incidentally, Ghulam Ahmadi of Germany is third on the list with eight maidens with Uganda’s Franco Nsubuga. As far as looking at the performance Bhuvaneshwar is not among the wicket-takers this time but he made a halt to the run flow by bowling excellent overs.

Sunil Narine of the West Indies has delivered the most first balls in all T20 matches (27). Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, is in second place with 23 bowls, followed by Samuel Badree, a former West Indies leg-spinner, with 21. With 21, Bhuvneshwar is fourth on the list. With 19, Bumrah is sixth.
