Bangladesh Changes Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier

Bangladesh Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup:

Bangladesh has made two changes to its 15-man team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier later this month. Suraiya Azmin and Faraha Trisna have been replaced by Sanjida Akter and the uncapped Marufa Akter, although the core of the team that competed in this year’s Commonwealth Games Qualifier and Women’s World Cup has been retained. here in this article, we have talked about the changes made in Bangladesh Squad for Women’s T20 World Cup.

The eight-team Qualifier will take place in Abu Dhabi from September 14 to September 25. Bangladesh has been assigned to Group A, along with the United States, Ireland, and Scotland. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host all three of Bangladesh’s group matches.

Sanjida is a left-arm orthodox spinner who has appeared in four T20 Internationals since her debut in 2019. She was a member of the Commonwealth Games Qualifier squad but did not make the World Cup roster. Marufa is an uncapped medium-pacer who finished second in the Women’s National Cricket League T20s last month.

These two players have taken the position of medium-pacer Suraiya and left-arm seamer Trisna, who was curiously overlooked despite taking 12 wickets in the same T20 tournament as Marufa.

The group will travel to Abu Dhabi on September 8 for a five-day pre-event conditioning camp.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier schedule was earlier announced, with eight countries battling for the remaining two berths in next year’s T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will play Thailand on the first day of the global qualifier, which runs from September 18 to September 25, at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Zimbabwe will also compete on day one, taking with Papua New Guinea at the neighboring Tolerance Oval.

Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the United States round out the qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in South Africa next year, alongside Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and hosts South Africa.

Bangladesh squad: Nigar Sultana (capt & wk), Sharmin Akter, Shamima Sultana, Fargana Hoque, Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Lata Mondal, Salma Khatun, Sobhana Mostary, Nahida Akter, Murshida Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Fahima Khatun, Sanjida Akter, Marufa Akter.
