On Thursday, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly announced that the UAE will host the 2017 Asia Cup T20 event, replacing Sri Lanka, which had to cancel its preparations owing to the current turmoil on the island nation. This ended any lingering ambiguity around the tournament. An anthem (promo) for the national team competing in the event that will start on August 27 has been made available via Star Sports India’s official Twitter account.
With seven championships to their record, the defending champions India are the most successful team in the history of the championship, with Sri Lanka being the second-most successful team with five victories. Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh will be the five full-member teams in the 2022 edition, and a qualifier will be held before the competition to determine which side would take the fifth berth out of Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait, and the UAE.
The Indian squad will compete in its first major competition after Rohit Sharma replaced Virat Kohli as captain. The reigning champions are one among the tournament’s big favorites, but they will have to contend with Pakistan, a heated rivalry that has gotten stronger under Babar Azam’s direction. The Men in Blue hymn was included in a montage highlighting the Indian team’s triumphs in the competition, which was released on Twitter by the tournament’s official broadcasters, Star Sports India.

The Sri Lankan board stated that they will not be able to host the event due to political and financial unrest and major demonstrations in the nation, and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly clarified that the tournament has been transferred to the UAE.
Notably, the ICC announced a change to the tournament’s structure and indicated that starting in 2016, competitions, which up until then exclusively included ODI matches, will see format changes every two years. India won the T20 Asia Cup in 2016 and the subsequent 50-over competition in 2018, both of which were also won by the Men in Blue.
