Shakib Al Hasan says “spinner bowling a no ball is a crime”

In the Asia Cup sixth match, Sri Lanka faced Bangladesh, where Sri Lanka stood out on top in a nail-biting match and beat Bangladesh by 2 wickets. With the win over Bangladesh Sri Lanka have now qualified for the super 4. Here in this article, we talk about what Shakib Al Hasan says on “spinner bowling a no ball is a crime”.

Bangladesh lost their first match against the underdog team Afghanistan and now losing to Sri Lanka, with two defeats in a row Bangladesh is now out of Asia Cup 2022.

Sri Lanka fought very hard to chase down the target, even though Bangladesh bowled really well, the difference was in the extra runs which impacted the result of the match, Bangladesh gave away 17 extras and on the other hand, Sri Lanka gave zero runs from extras.

Even the skipper did not shy away from speaking about the extras that were conceded especially the no bowls bowled by the spinners, he went on to say that “No captain wants a no ball, and a spinner bowling a no ball is a crime. We bowled a lot of no balls and wide balls and that is not disciplined bowling. These are pressure games and we need to learn a lot from here and move forward.”

Taking about the mistakes Shakib said that “I think a few poor overs cost us the game. In the last over, they were 8 down, but they got there with four balls in hand. That shows we aren’t bowling well in the death, but credit to Sri Lanka for the way they batted. I think Dasun did very well. We wanted to pick wickets early, but the bowlers couldn’t execute their plans and that’s why the spinner bowled the last over. For the last six months we haven’t played well, but we have been competitive in these last two games. World Cup will be a different challenge now, we have to improve. We feel sorry for our fans, everywhere we go we get such superb support.”

When asked about the game-changing moment Shakib stated that “The turning point could be when our batsmen got out at crucial moments and spinners bowling a no ball is a crime. It proved how we can break down in a pressure situation. We need to improve on that skill-wise but we break whenever there is pressure and lose the game. We need to improve a lot in the death overs.”
