Kohli To Break Dhoni’s Record Of Highest Run-Scorer As Skipper

Kohli On Chase

Team India captain Virat Kohli is on his way to cross former captain, MS Dhoni, in the list of highest run-scorers in T20Is as a captain. He only needs 81 runs more to cross Dhoni on that list. He is going to play in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

As a captain, Virat has scored 1,032 runs with a strike rate of 143.73 and an average of 46.90 in 33 T20Is. He is in the fourth position in the list of highest run-scorers as a T20I captain.

Runs Needed By Kohli To Accomplish

MS Dhoni has scored 1,112 runs in the list and Kohli is just 81 runs shy of it. South African skipper Faf du Plessis is tops the captain’s list by scoring 1,273 runs in forty T20Is.

Virat Kohli requires 242 more runs to cross Faf du Plessis and become the highest run-scorer as a T20I captain.

After the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka, he became the fastest player as a captain to reach 1000 runs in the T20I series.

He reached it in his 30th match as a captain. He is the only Indian captain after MS Dhoni to achieve this goal.

New Zealand Tour Of India

India’s T20I series against New Zealand is going to start on January 24. In the shortest format of international cricket, it will be India’s first-ever five-match series.

India announced the names of the 15-member squad for the ODI series against New Zealand. They started the year with a series win over Sri Lanka at home but they will be facing an uneasy test against New Zealand.

Kohli’s Confidence For The Team

Virat said that they are taking a lot of confidence from their performance in New Zealand last year. They are very positive about the way they played and very sure of what they want to do.

The important thing about playing outside is that if you can pressurize the home team, you can enjoy your cricket, said Kohli.
