Indian Lawyers Convinced The ICC:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has won the battle against the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB). The Indian lawyers convinced the ICC that the main reason behind the Indian team not playing with Pakistan in the ODI Championship was merely a case of not having the necessary approval from the authorities.
Talking to media, a BCCI official said the Indian board’s lawyers put forward the actual picture, and the foreign body understood the situation.
“Indian lawyers have explained to the ICC that we are taking government approval for every tournament, and it’s not just only about playing with Pakistan team. And, if we don’t have security approval, how will we carry them out? It was just a matter of describing the situation, “the official added.
Despite that, the investigation committee of the ICC decided that teams would share points in all three ICC Women’s Championship series, which did not take place within the period of the tournament and that saw India qualify for the 2021 Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.
The India-Pakistan series was initially scheduled in the sixth round of the competition between July and November 2019, but after so many efforts of both the boards, the tournament couldn’t take place, ICC said in a statement.
I Am Clear If India Doesn’t Want To Play We Have To Plan Without Them- Ehsan Mani:
The technical committee determined that the match for India vs Pakistan series could not be played because of a Force Majeure event after the BCCI revealed that it was necessary to take government clearances for security purposes to allow India to play with Pakistan in the ICC Women’s Championship bilateral series against Pakistan.
Ironically, on Tuesday, PCB president Ehsan Mani made it clear that the Pakistan Cricket Board doesn’t require the BCCI to be with them.
“We’ve faced many losses, but they’re not (India) in our thought or preparation. We will exist without them and not require them to survive,” he said in a podcast published by the media department of the PCB.
“I’m sure we will schedule without them if India doesn’t want to play. They have made promises to play against us once or twice, but at the last moment, they backed out.” Ehsan Mani said.
