Harshal Patel was RCB’s standout player in IPL 2021. RCB had traded Patel from Delhi ahead of the 2021 season. He ended up with the purple cap equaling Dwayne Bravo’s league record of 32 wickets in a season. Patel was one of the most sought after bowlers in the auction. Teams staged a bidding war for Harshal Patel.

SRH, DC, and RR were involved in a 3-way race up until his price reached INR 10 crores. CSK then entered the contested forcing DC and SRH to pull out. RR kept going for him but CSK finally managed to outbid them and picked him for INR 14 crores.
