Rishabh Praises Avesh Khan’s Brilliant Efforts For The Victory

Despite reaching third and second in 2 consecutive editions, 2021 appears to be the year when the Delhi Capitals will be recognized champions. Their prospects of success have improved even more when they clinched their 9th match in a row. On Saturday, October 2, Rishabh Pant & team beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets in a dramatic, low-scoring match in Sharjah. Here is Why Rishabh Praised Avesh Khan.

Why Rishabh Praised Avesh Khan?

Avesh Khan was a standout performance in the victory. Pant said after the game about the right-arm speedster, who is having one of the best campaign of his career. He was right back into the finishing stats of 3 for 15 from 4 overs. He also took key wickets of Rohit Sharma as well as Hardik Pandya, assisting Delhi in holding Mumbai to 129 for 7.

Pant lauded his teammate’s efforts this season. He also mentioned that Marcus Stoinis would be joining the squad shortly, which will help to strengthen their batting order.

“Avesh is the find of the season for us. But at Delhi Capitals, we learn from our mistakes and pick up. We have to solidify our batting. Stoinis should be fine in a few days, and that will be good for us,” Pant said in the post-match presentation.

I held back one over of Ashwin to keep Avesh away from Pollard and Hardik: Pant.

Pant and Avesh Khan have been mates since they were on the India U-19 squad. He chose Avesh above other veteran bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. Efforts have been recognized for the trust placed in him. Avesh Khan has bagged 21 wickets in just 12 games, an avg of 15, and with a 7.00 economy rate.

The Delhi Capitals captain also discussed his strategy on the sluggish Sharjah wicket. “In Sharjah, the wicket always plays differently. Yes, it’s a hard-fought victory. We were planning to bowl mostly the fast bowlers in the powerplay. Easier for the spinner in these tracks. I held back one over of Ashwin to keep him away from Pollard and Hardik,” said Pant.

Pant came out blazing as his hitters struggled to settle to the speed of the delivery. He smashed 3 fours and a six to score 26 runs on 22 deliveries. The lefty said, “You can’t always go for it, but someone has to be aggressive in the powerplay.”
