Asia Cup 2022 Srilanka vs Afghanistan: Afghan Bowlers Topple Srilanka’s Top Order, Brave Fightback From Rajapaksha

Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan 1st innings 10 over update:

The much awaited Asia Cup has finally started and in the first contest of the tournament, we have Srilanka and Afghanistan playing against each other at the Dubai International Stadium. Here in this article, we talk about Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan 1st innings 10 over update.

Winning the toss, Afghanistan doing the typical as in Dubai, elected to bowl first. Coming to bat, Srilanka has scored 64 runs in 10 overs by losing 5 wickets.

It was a nightmarish start for Srilanka whose batting lineup toppled and it was not a pretty sight. Just in first over, the team lost its opener Kusal Mendis to Fazalhaq Farooqi. On the very next ball, they lost the new batter Asalanka. It was in the second over we saw a controversial decision where umpire gave out to the tremor on the Ultraedge as opposed to the usual spike which indicates an out decision, that removed the prime Srilanka batter Pathum Nissanka from the middle.

At the end of 2 overs, Srilanka’s score read 5 for 3. It was now responsibility of the new batters Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Danushka Gunathilaka to build a partnership to make their team reach a respectable total. Early on in the innings, they took singles and paired it with occasional boundaries taking the score to 41 for 3 by the end of powerplay.
.
Azmatullah bowled the 6th over of the innings and kept things lost the momentum Afghanistan had built so far, conceding 20 runs from the over. The 8th over of the innings was bowled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman who controlled things a bit, conceding just 5 runs from the over.

Just another 5 runs came off the 9th over of the innings bowled by the much awaited bowler Rashid Khan where he kept things tight as usual. Mujeeb bowled the 10th over of the innings, conceding just 5 runs from the over but also getting the important wicket of all rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

The run rate at the end of 10th over is 6.4. The projected score at this rate at the end of the innings is 140 runs. Rajapaksha (36) and Shanaka (0) are at the crease now.
