Shubman Gill Hopes To Get A Century In The Third Game And A Tonne In The Final ODI

Shubman Gill, who bats first with Shikhar Dhawan in the three-match ODI series against West Indies, has taken advantage of his opportunity, scoring 64 and 43 in the first two ODIs.

Gill has demonstrated the capacity to assess the playing field and the circumstances of the match and adjust accordingly.

The Punjab batsman has, however, failed to reach significant totals in both of his innings at Queen’s Park Oval, and before to the series’ last game, the 21-year-old said that this is an area in which he hopes to make progress.

“My two setbacks have boosted my confidence. Speaking to the media, Gill stated, “I’m hoping to go big in the third match and it will be feasible by turning the 40s and 50s into a high score.

“The think tank has backed me to open and I am happy to deliver the goods. I felt good that they gave me the opportunity to open but unfortunately I could not convert it to 100,” he added.

“I have enjoyed starting off alongside the captain, Shikhar Dhawan. He is someone I learn a lot from. The playing surfaces have been relatively decent, and the ball is developing really nicely, but as the ball ages, scoring becomes a little more difficult. In the second ODI, we performed extremely well chasing 300 or so runs, he stated.

I have a lot of interactions with coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour, said Gill, who earlier participated in the U-19 World Cup while being coached by the legendary Indian player. Vikram Sir comments on my approach. Rahul Sir offers suggestions for dealing with issues.

Since both of the matches were so close, the series might have gone either way. To end the season on a good note as a team, we will be focusing on winning the last game,” he said.
