The Indian Women’s A team defeated Hong Kong Women with ease, thanks to RCB player Shreyanka Patil’s outstanding performance in the ongoing ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup.

In the Group A match at Mong Kok, India A bowled out Hong Kong for 34 runs before thrashing the hosts by 9 wickets and 88 balls. Patil was the main destroyer, with a stunning spell of 5 wickets for 2 runs in 3 overs.

When asked to bat first, Hong Kong only managed 34 runs in 14 overs. In response, India ‘A’ reached the goal in 5.2 overs with the loss of just a wicket.

Shreyanka Patil – The star of the match

Among the HK batters, Mariko Hill was the only one to reach double figures, hitting 14 off 19 balls with two fours. However, the remainder of HK’s batting lineup underperformed. Shreyanka Patil was India’s star performer, with figures of 5/2 in 3 overs.

Patil, the RCB’s premier bowler, entered the fray in the ninth over and scalped a wicket off the first delivery, sending Marina Lamplough back to the pavilion. She then took three wickets in the 11th over while allowing only one run. In her third over, the 20-year-old cleaned Ruchitha Venkatesh to end her sepll with a fifer.

The chase was comfortable enough for the Indian batters. Unfortunately, the India skipper was caught by Kary Chan off Betty Chan’s bowling. But Trisha Gongadi (19*), Chetry (16*) sealed the show for India in fashion to hand their side a victory in the teams opening match of the tournament.
