When Asked To Select India’s Top Three Players For The T20 World Cup, Sanjay Manjrekar Responded, “Not Answering That”

India’s Top 3 Players For The T20 World Cup: In front of the forthcoming T20 World Cup in October 2022, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has offered his opinions on India’s top order. Given the variety of alternatives, he claimed that it would be impossible to select the top three in India. Due to significant match absences from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli over the past two months, the Indian management has been exploring alternative options.

With either Rahul or Kohli as his partner, Rohit Sharma is a foregone conclusion to start India’s batting. Both Rahul and Kohli have a track record of success in the top and middle orders, but in their absence, the Indian management tried Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant to start the innings alongside Rohit.

In the recently finished T20I series against the West Indies, Suryakumar showed his adaptability when beginning the innings, while Pant was unable to have the same effect. Rahul and Kohli both deserve spots in the starting XI for major competitions, but Manjrekar acknowledged that selecting India’s top three players for the T20 World Cup is challenging.

“Not answering that. It’s a tough one, really tough because there are some serious contenders there. That’s why these matches before the T20 World Cup are so important. KL Rahul has to be part of the T20 team. So has to be Virat Kohli just because of the stage and the pressure that comes in. It’s going to be a tough one. We have seen Suryakumar Yadav bat in the top three, we have seen Rishabh Pant bat in the top three. These are all very exciting options, so let’s see how it goes,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on Sports 18 show.

The thought of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant opening is fantastic. The Indian management shocked everyone by starting Pant as the opener in the last two T20I games against England last month, according to Sanjay Manjrekar. The wicketkeeper hitter, though, was unable to make a significant impact, scoring just 27 runs in two games. But Majrekar encouraged the Pant to introduce Rohit first.

“I love that idea of Rishabh Pant opening with Rohit Sharma. So that is something I am excited about, the possibility is there. It’s such a difficult one. You have got Virat Kohli, you have got KL Rahul, you have got Suryakumar Yadav and I think these are the three serious contenders. I am stumped.”
