Ravichandran Ashwin lifted his bat high into the air after he achieved the half-century mark at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. After the top-order batsmen, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, dismissals Ashwin’s proud knock brought some great respite to his team.

After the completion of 20 overs, Rajasthan Royal’s total score is 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In the first 10 overs, the team managed to score 68 runs for the loss of two wickets.

During the death overs, the Royals’ continued to showcase stability. The highest partnership of the innings was between Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal who contributed a total of 53 runs on the scoreboard.

Meanwhile, the bowlers from Delhi Capitals showed a decent and balancing performance. Chetan Sakariya, Anrich Nortje and Mitchell Marsh took two wickets each. In the 18th over bowled by Sakariya departed Parag who was raging to hit sixes.

In the 19th over of the innings, Padikkal was caught by Anrich Nortje after a magnificent catch taken by Kamlesh Nagarkoti at a deep point. In the 20th over, Shardul Thakur kept things tight with his impressive swing availing the opponents to score only six runs.

Ashwin scored the highest number of runs by scoring 50 at a strike rate of 131.58. Both, Ashwin’s and Padikkal’s performances made the Royals close the first innings for a decent score of 160 runs. However, the DC can easily chase the score down as the deck is not feasible for the bowlers to launch any attack.
