“Rishabh Pant’s keeping was better than Buttler”- Saba Karim

The first Test between India and England ended in a stalemate as rains played a spoilsport at Nottingham. The Men in Blue needed 157 runs to win with 9 wickets in hand on Day 5. However, it drizzled continuously and the game was called off. Nevertheless, Indians displayed a strong performance in the first Test and were equal contenders till the final day. Here is Saba Karim About Rishabh Pant’s keeping.

Jasprit Bumrah made a solid comeback after a disappointing WTC final. KL Rahul played a decisive inning in the first innings to mark his return in Test cricket. Rishabh Pant gathered plenty of applauds for his role behind the stumps. Former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim was left very impressed by 23-year-old Pant.

IND vs ENG Test Series: Saba Karim About Rishabh Pant’s keeping

Saba Karim stated that Pant did an excellent job behind the stumps in difficult English conditions, where the ball was continuously moving in the air. Pant was sharp throughout the match as he left no room for errors. Karim added that Pant’s keeping was better than that of Jos Buttler’s for England.

“Rishabh Pant was brilliant with his wicketkeeping. I noticed that the way the ball was wobbling after crossing the wicket, it wasn’t easy. But his keeping was better than that of Jos Buttler. Buttler has played so many times in his home conditions, but Rishabh Pant was brilliant behind the stumps by taking so many catches.” Saba Karim said while speaking on the YouTube show ‘Khelneeti.

IND vs ENG Test Series: Saba Karim on James Anderson

Saba Karim also spoke about English bowler James Anderson. Karim said that it is a privilege for everyone to watch Anderson play. Anderson overcame Anil Kumble’s mark of 619 Test wickets to become the third-highest wicket-taker of all time in red-ball cricket. Anderson sent Indian skipper Virat Kohli back to the pavilion for a golden duck.

“It is a privilege for us to see James Anderson playing at this stage of his career. The way he works hard and prepares for every series, every batsman is tremendous. His mindset and the way he sets up batsmen is something to watch for all youngsters,” Saba Karim concluded.
