Ravichandran Ashwin, popularly known as Ash by his teammates was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu on 17 September 1986. R. Ashwin is an Indian right-arm off-break bowler who is also an effective batter in the lower middle order for the team. Ashwin has been a crucial member of the Indian Test squad for almost a decade. Ashwin is the second most successful bowler of India in the history of Test Cricket. Presently, R. Ashwin is the Number 1 test cricket bowler in the world. Ashwin has won 9 MoS awards as of now highest by any Indian Player in the Test cricket. In TATA IPL 2022, Ravichandran Ashwin was roped in by Rajasthan Royals in the mega auction for a whopping amount of 5 crores.

Ravichandran Ashwin started off playing cricket at the age of 9 years. He started off as a batter. At the age of 14 years, Ashwin got injured that caused some ligament tear in his bones. Since then, Ashwin started to focus on bowling. Initially he started fast bowling. But later, after his mother’s suggestion he decided to go for spin bowling. Ashwin attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and then went to St. Bede’s Higher Secondary School. Ashwin was always bright in studies and completed his B. Tech in IT from SSN College.

Ravi Ashwin started off his domestic career at the age of 19 years while playing for Tamil Nadu. Ashwin was picked up in the squad in 2006 and he made an

instant impact that he was appointed as the captain of the domestic tea, in the next season.

In his career, Ravichandran Ashwin has played 140 first-class matches and taken 672 wickets with 49 five-wicket hauls in his name. He has also scored 4756 runs in the first-class cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin made his International debut in an ODI against Sri Lanka in June, 2010. He took 2 wickets in the match and also scored 38 runs. However, India lost the match.

Few days later, he made his T20I debut and picked a wicket in the match.

In December 2010, Ashwin was picked up in the ODI squad for the series against New Zealand. Ashwin took 11 wickets in 5 matches and won Player of the series award.

Ashwin remained with Chennai till 2015 and then was roped in by Rising Pune Supergiants for 2016 and 2017.

In 2018, Ashwin was bought by Kings XI Punjab for the whopping amount of 7.60 crores and was also named as the captain of the Franchise.

Next 2 seasons didn’t go down well for him as well as for Punjab.

In 2020, Ravichandran Ashwin was picked up by Delhi Capitals and played as an all rounder for the franchise for 2 seasons.
