Ravi Shastri Cannot Be Removed, If India Wins T20 World Cup 2021: Reetinder Sodhi

Ravi Shastri’s tenure with Team India ends in November 2021. There are no updates on whether Sastri’s contract will be continued or not. There are rumors that the existing coach would be substituted by Rahul Dravid, who is currently coaching the team in Sri Lanka. let’s look at Reetinder Sodhi about Ravi Shastri tenure with Team India.

Indian all-rounder, Reetinder Sodhi (retired) believes it will be difficult to ignore Shastri if India wins the ICC T20 World Cup in 2021. The global tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates in November, and Sodhi feels it will be tough to dismiss Shastri from his role as head coach if India succeeds to break their ICC trophy drought, which saw them win a title in 2013.

Shastri has done a fantastic job thus far and was praised for the team’s come-from-behind 2-1 victory in 2020-21. According to Sodhi, Coaches should not be evaluated on their ability to win ICC titles.

Reetinder Sodhi About Ravi Shastri Tenure With Team India

“This is speculative for sure. It will be very harsh to say that Ravi has not performed well. He has done quite well but if the parameter is winning trophies, we have not done that. But if the Indian team wins the T20 World Cup, it will be impossible to remove Ravi Shastri,” Sodhi told in an Interview.

Under Shastri’s coaching, India lost to Kiwis in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and the same happen with the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on 23′ June 2021. In 2017, Shastri succeeded Anil Kumble. Sodhi feels that appointing Dravid as a coach for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka will put Shastri under pressure.

“He has done a decent job earlier as well and winning the trophy, something we have been waiting for, I think the purpose will be filled. But at the end of the day, the way Rahul Bhai has gone to Sri Lanka as a coach and the board rejected the proposal of two additional batsmen, you get a somewhat different signal. If you ask me, there is pressure on Ravi Bhai,” Sodhi believes.
