Prithvi Shaw Opens Up About His Comparison With Sachin Tendulkar

Among the new generation of players who have broken the international records, Prithvi Shaw‘s name is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects of the sport. The Mumbai teenager is all set to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. Shaw achieved accolades for all his achievements at a young age.

Shaw made it to the headlines in 2018 after leading India to the U19 World Cup. Prithvi Shaw admitted that Tendulkar had a significant impact on his batting style. He revealed that Tendulkar always told the young man to play his natural game and stay calm even on the field. Shaw praised Tendulkar as the “God of Cricket.”

“He (Tendulkar) made a significant impact on me. I first met him when I was eight years old. He always tells me to play my natural game, and according to the situation. Even on the field, he asked me to calm down,” Shaw told his IPL team, Delhi Capital, during an Instagram live chat.

“There is pressure when people compare me to him. But I take it as a challenge. I try to play like him. He is a cricket god,” he said.

Shaw recalls how Tendulkar asked him not to change his grip on him as a child. Shaw said, “I am a bottom hand player, and Sachin sir asked me not to change my grip.
