Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers highlights: Turner’s unbeaten 48 helps Perth to claim second spot

Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers highlights: In a low-scoring game, where it was hard to guess the winner till the final 11 balls, Perth Scorchers managed to win by 3 wickets.

The whole credit goes to Perth’s skipper Ashton Turner, who stand tall above all odds and played a remarkable unbeaten 48-run knock off 38 to hand his side a victory and second position at the points table.

Earlier, Chris Lynn scored highest runs for Adelaide Strikers, as his 35-run knock was crucial in posting 133 on board in 20 overs.

Opting to bat, the table-toppers faced a dreary start, as they lost their first wickets in the opening over of the game itself.

Henry Hunt walked back without even opening his account.

Matthew Short and Chris Lynn did provide some strength to the Adelaide side with their decent approach, but they also didn’t stay that for long, as Short was removed by Agar during the eighth over of the innings for 16.

Soon, Lynn also walked back after scoring 35.

An 18, 19 and 18 from Adam Hose, Colin de Grandhomme, and Thomas Kelly, respectively helped the Strikers to reach a respectable mark as the table toppers finished their innings at 133 for 7 in 20 overs.

Andrew Tye led the bowling department with a 3-wicket haul in his 4-over spell, in which he gave just 30. Jason Behrendorff and Ashton Agar took 1-1 each for Perth.

The score was not that big to chase, but the top team didn’t let the game go easily from their hands.

Adelaide bowlers broke the back of team Perth by dismissing their top-3 batters during the first 3 overs of their innings.

They were in trouble during the chase, and even a decent hands from Josh Inglis (19) and Aaron Hardie (22), didn’t help them to take some relief breath, as they lost half of their without even crossing the halfway mark.

Agar’s departure put more pressure on the side, as they have to score more 62 in the final 10 overs.

Turner’s unbeaten 48 helps Perth to claim second spot

There, however still hopes left, as the skipper Ashton Turner was there at the middle and he stood tall and took the whole charge in his hand.

He and Jhye Richardson added a valuable 43 for seventh wicket and drove Perth near the target. The job, however, still wasn’t done for them and Richardson left the crease with 19 still required off 11 balls.

Tye took a single on first ball, and the skipper decided to not stretch the game to the final over.

He struck a 6, 4 and a 6 again off Thornton’s nineteenth over, and put the equation to 2 off 6 for the final over. Tye shot a boundary on the first ball of the final over, and Perth won the game by 3 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

Turner remained unbeaten on 48 off 38 in the process and received player of the match title for his impeccable knock that helped Perth Scorchers move to second spot at the points table.
