Chasing a target of 146, Winfield-Hill played a superb knock of 74 off just 42 balls to knock out the competitor Northern Superchargers from the game.

This mark the start of defending champion Oval invincibles dream run in the 2022 edition of The Hundred Women’s competition.

Batting first, the superchargers faced a dreary start when they lost their three wickets at just the score of 38 in 26 balls.

However, India’s Jemimah Rodrigues then controlled the damage and played a decent game of cricket to help her side cross the 100 mark before getting out. She scored a half-century before leaving the field.

Laura Wolvaardt, the partner with Rodrigues, who rescued superchargers innings, missed her half-century by one run as she walked back after scoring 49 off 39.

With the help of Rodrigues and Wolvaardt’s fine knocks, superpowers managed to put 145 on board in their 100-ball quota.

Ryana Macdonald Gay was the pick of the bowlers for Invincibles as she took 2 wickets for 25.

In reply, Oval Invincibles’ openers entertained the fans a lot with their brilliant batting skills as Invincibles crossed the 100 mark without losing any wicket.

Suzie Bates, however, got out after scoring 46 off 34, but Winfield-Hill remained as destructive as she was before and ended the game by playing an unbeaten knock of 74 off 42 to earn her team a victory in the first match of the tournament.

Alice Capsey, who joined Winfield-Hill at crease after Bates showed her destructive side by hitting 4 fours and a maximum to score 25 off just 8 and hand her team a win with 16 balls to spare.

The second match of the tournament will be played between Southern Brave and London Spirit on August 12 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
