“ Rohit Sharma Isn’t The First Indian Cricketer To Play 100th T20 Internationals, ” – Harsha Bhogle

After losing the first T20I game to Bangladesh, Team India is eagerly waiting to bounce back stronger in the upcoming T20I which is scheduled to take place at Rajkot on 7th November (Thursday). It will be the 100th T20I for Indian stand-in captain Rohit Sharma. He is the first Indian men’s cricketer to achieve this feat. However, the hitman is not the first Indian cricketer to achieve this record. Harsha Bhogle, the Indian cricket commentator, has reminded fans about the women cricketer who is ahead of Rohit Sharma in achieving this record. She is none other than the skipper of the Indian women’s T20 team Harmanpreet Kaur.

In India women’s cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur is a trendsetter. The current India T20I captain also plays for the Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League. The 30-year-old Indian made her Team India debut in 2009. She received an Arjuna Award in 2017. Harmanpreet became the first Indian cricketer, male or female, to be roped in by a foreign T20 league when as many as three WBBL teams wanted to sign her up.

She ended up with inaugural champions Sydney Thunder and won the franchise’s Player of the Tournament award for her all-round show in the debut season. Months later, the T20I captain became the first Indian to sign up with Surrey Stars for the second edition of ECB’s Women’s Cricket League.

The hitman Rohit Sharma is currently leading the Indian team and is on his way to achieving a rare feat by becoming the first male cricketer of India to feature in 100 T20I matches. The only men’s cricketer who has played more than 100 T20I matches is Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik. After his appearance in the second T20I, Rohit Sharma will become the second men’s cricketer to play in 100 T20I matches.
