New Zealand Squad announced
As New Zealand juggles its resources to deal with a compressed start to the year. Kane Williamson and Tim Southee will be absent from the six-match tour of India. Let us look at New Zealand Squad for India and Pakistan Tour.
Gary Stead, the coach, will also miss the January tour. Leaving his assistant Luke Ronchi in charge of a team that will play three ODIs and three T20Is. Williamson, Southee, and Stead won’t be on the T20I team. Which has yet to be announced.
Kane Williamson’s Replacement for the India series
The ODI team in India will be led by Tom Latham and current batting coach Luke Ronchi in Williamson and Stead’s absence.
The former New Zealand Women coach Bob Carter and the former New Zealand spinner Paul Wiseman, who was recently a member of the coaching staff of the New Zealand A side that had previously visited India earlier this year, will assist Ronchi.
He will also serve as the head coach for the T20I series in India.
New Zealand Selectors Comments:
New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen was quoted saying “Henry’s an exciting talent who we’ve had our eye on for a while. He’s taken his game to another level in the past 12 months. We’re delighted to see his progression given how valuable genuine all-rounders are in any cricket team.”
He further stated, “It’s encouraging to see players putting their hands up in our domestic competitions and their performances being rewarded with selection for the national team.”
He concluded by saying “It’s going to be tough cricket against world-class opposition which should prove a real test of a player’s skill and temperament. With the one-day World Cup less than a year away in India. It’s the perfect time to be playing these sides at home as we look to nail down our game plans.
