Will Ben Stokes play Ashes Series 2021?
England Cricket Association is in full support of Ben Stokes and they’re not making any pressure on all-rounder for a T20 World Cup or Ashes series in December. Head coach Chris Silverwood said that the ball is in Stokes’ court regarding any comeback.
Australian Spinner Nathan Lyon has seen the progress on the left index finger injury of Stokes with social media grabs showing the star all-rounder now being able to hold a bat properly. Lyon expects the Stokes to return to the much-awaited Ashes series.
Stokes is the best all-rounder in the world he is an X-factor: Lyon
“I’m expecting him to come. I’m expecting Stokes to be out here and, to be honest, I hope he is,” said Lyon at Sydney’s Hurstville Oval, where the NSW Blues were playing an intra-squad practice match.
“You want to play against the best players in the world and Stokes is the best all-rounder in the world. He’s an X-factor and he’s a game-changer, and you want to play against these players, so I’m expecting Stokes to be here.”
Lyon would be still having nightmares about Stokes the way his brutal batting took Australia down during the Iconic Headingley Test in 2019. Having set to take a 2-0 lead in the series after England was bowled out under 67 runs, it was an impeccable performance by Ben Stokes which took England to the victory and is considered as one of the best Test innings in the history.
The off-spinner has also added on how he has been working on his fitness and some mystery balls for the upcoming Ashes. “A couple of mystery balls, always got a couple of mystery balls, I’ve already started looking at a couple of England’s batters, so that’s exciting,” Lyon said
