Mitchell Starc On Australian Players Playing In IPL 2020

Many rumors have been circulating in the media about the IPL 2020 at this time. Some reports say that the tournament will be held in October or November. But if it happens, it may be likely to postpone the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020. The event expected to take place in Australia in October and November.

But, if this happens in October and November, the Australian players would take part in the IPL. The thing is that the domestic season in the country will have begun by then, so here rises the question of which one will the players choose.

Australia speedster Mitchell Starc has opened on this. He says that he has no problem if players choose to play in the IPL 2020 ahead of the domestic home season.

‘I’ll let them make their decisions’: Mitchell Starc

The left-arm pacer was firm in his words as he expressed his views on this matter. He said that he doesn’t see a problem, because the contracts are already existing. He also pointed out that it should be the decision of the player himself.

“Do I have a problem? I don’t believe so, they are contracts which pre-exist. There’s a lot of things that I’m supposed to do. Cricket Australia has to clear the guys out, but I don’t see a problem if they’re clear to go, “cricket.com.au quoted Starc.

“They are contracts that already exist and anyway they would have played. Obviously, there’s another hurdle for domestic cricket. That would be an interesting decision, not one I should have to make, so I’ll let them make their decisions, “he said.

At this time, Starc has no IPL contract. He was acquired before IPL 2018 by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Moreover, for the past two seasons, injuries kept him away from the League.

KKR released him before the auction this year. In return, he benefitted his team-mate Pat Cummins, who was acquired for a record of 15.5 INR crores by the franchise.

When asked, “I ‘d consider that, I ‘d think about it. I would like to make a part of the league.” It would be right at the beginning of the domestic season so that it would be fairly considerable. But I have no deal now, so I don’t have to think about it right now.

Recently Ian Chappell, a former Australian cricketer, said he wanted Australia’s leading cricketers to prioritize domestic cricket before the IPL. Next season’s highly paid IPL teams are the same stars as Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, and Aaron Finch.
