MI vs RR IPL 2024: Rohit goes for duck; Mumbai Indians fail to leave mark in first home game

MI vs RR 1st Innings Update For TATA IPL 2024 Match 14

MI vs RR 1st Innings Update: Mumbai Indians’ hopes of turning their fortunes around at home are fading after an underperformance in first innings against Rajasthan Royals.

Trent Boult silenced the Mumbai crowd with his breathtaking deliveries in the first over of the game and dismissed both Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir for first-ball ducks.

Wankhede’s crowd were prepared to see Rohit’s magic, but Boult’s destruction forced them to remain quiet. The New Zealander then removed Dewald Brevis again for a first-ball duck in his second over.

Nandre Burger joined the party in the next over and provided the wicket of Ishan Kishan.

Mumbai Indians were looking in big trouble with 20-4 in 3.3 overs, and the crowd, who was not happy with Pandya’s new role, wanted a valuable innings from him.

Pandya showed his abilities and tried to soak the pressure with his aggressive approach. Tilak Varma also did his job decently, and both added 56 for the fifth wicket.

Things were looking in control, but Pandya’s mistimed shot found Powell at long on and MI skipper’s left the crease after a crucial 21-ball 34.

Varma (32) also got trapped in Chahal spin and Mumbai’s last Tim David also failed to leave a mark. However, with little contributions from tailenders, MI managed to score 125 in 20 overs.

Skipper Hardik Pandya remained the highest scorer for the side with 34.

Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal both bagged 3-3 wickets each for Rajasthan. Nandre Burger took 2, while Avesh Khan also grabbed a wicket.

The clever leg spinner Chahal bowled a fantastic spell and gave only 11 runs in his 4 overs.

MI, who already lost their first two games, need to play their best game at home to secure a win. However, Rajasthan, whose batters were seen in fine touch in the initial two games, will be seeking to chase down the target quickly.
