Ajit Agarkar was Appointed Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee

New Chief: Ajit Agarkar, a former right-arm medium-fast bowler, has been named the Chairman of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee, which is a huge development for Indian cricket.

Agarkar has been recommended by the committee to take on the position of Chairman of the Men’s Selection Committee based on his seniority in terms of the total number of Test matches played. The committee, which includes Agarkar as well as experienced members, will help with the critical tasks of talent spotting and team selection. Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, and Sridharan Sharath are among the group’s members.

Who gave the final Green Signal for Agarkar?

For the role of one selector on the committee, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which consists of Ms Sulakshana Naik, Mr Ashok Malhotra, and Mr Jatin Paranjape, held interviews. The CAC unanimously decided to propose Agarkar for the prestigious position.

About Ajith Agarkar 

In addition to participating in 110 first-class, 270 List A, and 62 T20 games, the former all-rounder for India also played in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and four T20 Internationals. He was a former fast bowler who played for India’s winning team in the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa. 

His 21-ball fifty against Zimbabwe in 2000 still stands as the fastest half-century by an Indian hitter in an ODI. For almost ten years, he also held the record for the quickest 50 ODI wickets, reaching the mark in just 23 games.
