IND vs ZIM: Shubman Gill slams his Maiden ODI century

IND vs ZIM 3rd ODI 1st Innings Updates, India faces Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI of the Zimbabwe ODI tour, Indian top order batsman Shubman smashed the maiden ODI century of his career.

The current Indian No.3 batsman Gill smashed 130 runs from 97 balls with a strike rate of 134.02, during the third ODI against Zimbabwe.

India already has the lead in the series (2-0) but still, India is looking to finish the job in style and whitewash the whole ODI series.

Dhawan and Rahul decently opened the innings where Dhawan scored 40 runs from 68 deliveries and KL Rahul scored 30 from 46 deliveries. Then came Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan who did not give any chance for the Zimbabwe bowlers to stop the flow of runs, runs were flowing from both the batters, and unfortunately in a runout Ishan fell prey to Munyonga throw.

Both Ishan and Gill had a partnership of 140 runs and this partnership had a huge influence on the final score where India was able to manage to put up a total of 289 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs.

Shubman Gill has scored 499 runs in 9 matches in the ODI format with an average of 71.29 and with a strike rate of 105.27, this is turning out to be a dream start for the young Indian batsman, in his last 9 matches, Gill scored 130,98*,82*,64,33 and 33.

With his maiden century, Gill has now become the youngest Indian to score a century in Zimbabwe (22yrs 348days). The fun fact is that Shubman Gill is now the third person from India to score their maiden ODI centuries in Zimbabwe alongside Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.

Zimbabwe bowlers tried their best to stop the Indian batters only Brad Evans was successful in stopping the Indian batsman, Brad also managed to pick up 5 wicket haul in his 10-over spell with an economy of 5.4.

India will now look to tear apart the Zimbabwe batsman and will try to finish off the innings early and whitewash the series in style. Zimbabwe needs 290 runs from fifty overs to avoid humiliation.
