Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif does not want KL Rahul to be the main wicket-keeper of the team as it will increase the workload on him and he suggests that he should be used more as a backup wicket-keeper instead when the main one is not available.
Kaif: It Will Increase Workload On Rahul
Kaif told a media outlet,” People think that Rahul may become our main keeper in the future. But I feel that Rahul should be used as a backup wicket-keeper if the main keeper is injured or he is not with the team then Rahul should be there because if you rely on him as the main keeper then chances of injuries will grow as the workload will increase on him.”
He also believes it would be unfair leaving out the two-time world-cup-winning captain Dhoni from T20 world cup squad or to consider his IPL performance before taking a decision about selecting him.
He also feels the former captain should be included in the team as he thinks he has winning mentality and knows how to win games under pressure.
“So, I think ruling him out will be unfair. See a lot of cricket is still left in Dhoni and when a player plays for this long, there are ups and downs in his career. It happens with every cricketer not just Dhoni,” he said.
“Stay Home And Follow Government Guidelines”
As the country is reeling from the corona pandemic Kaif urged his fellow countrymen to follow the guidelines laid by the government and stay indoors because he feels that is the only way to beat the dreadful virus.
“My message for the society is to be at home and follow what the government is saying then only we can beat this virus. At this stage, this is something very important for one and all to be at home,” he said.
