It Is Difficult To Play Against India Because Of Modi Govt: Shahid Afridi

The former player Shoaib Akhtar recently recommended a gathering pledges arrangement among India and Pakistan in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. But the likes of Kapil Dev, Rajiv Shukla, and Zaheer Abbas felt that the agreement would not proceed with the present circumstance and imperil cricketers. Former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has gone to the barrier of Rawalpindi Express and assaulted the current Indian government.

The political tension between India and Pakistan has ruled out any cricket series between the two countries. The two countries last played in the 2012 ODI series. Since then, they have only played in one-on-one ICC tournaments.

Negativity is coming from them, says Shahid Afridi

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi has pushed back against the Indian government, saying Pakistan always wants to play cricket with India. Pointing out that this is not happening due to the Modi government’s disadvantage. Afridi said that Pakistan is on a positive path, and India is taking a positive step in the future.

Shahid Afridi said, “We want to play against India, but in this situation, it is difficult for the Modi government to take a negative view from them. Pakistan has always been positive, but India too is expected to take a positive step in the future.”

The former player recalls that cricket has always brought India and Pakistan closer. So, he agrees with Shoaib Akhtar’s suggestion to host games between the two countries. He said it was challenging to manage because they did not know whether India wanted to play or not.

“Cricket has always brought Pakistan & India closer. India needs to have better relations with Pakistan. I agree with Shoaib Akhtar. We need matches. But it is very tough to organize the matches as we don’t know where the matches would be held or if India wants to play” he added.
