IPL: BCCI Mandates 6-day Quarantine For Players Coming From UK

Due to COVID-19 instances in the Indian camp, the final Test involving India and England was cancelled. To prevent the virus from spreading further, the Indian team did not take the field in Manchester, and the match was cancelled. It should be mentioned that the 2nd phase of the IPL 2021 is quickly approaching, and franchises are considering how to get their players out of the UK, SO BCCI Mandates 6-day Quarantine for the player who are coming from England.

In the most recent development, a franchise official stated that the BCCI has mandated a 6-day quarantine for players arriving from the United Kingdom before entering the IPL bubble. Since there are very few instances in the Indian camp, it is clear that bubble-to-bubble transmission is no longer acceptable.

The BCCI has informed us that every player coming in from the UK to UAE will have to undergo six days of quarantine before they can join the team bubbles. Obviously, the bubble-to-bubble transfer from the UK to UAE no longer stands keeping in mind the current scenario,” a franchise official said.

Franchise official feels that the safe transit of players is the utmost priority

RCB announced that they had secured a charter jet for their captain Virat Kohli and star bowler Mohammed Siraj, in response to many franchises airlifting their players from the United Kingdom. On Saturday, at 11.30 p.m., they will fly from the United Kingdom to Dubai. The team official went on to say that safe transport for players is a top priority for them.

Yes, we have arranged a charter flight for Virat and Siraj, both of them will be flying out at 11:30 PM UK time on Saturday and they will reach Dubai early Sunday morning. The safe transit of players is the utmost priority for RCB. They will undergo 6-day quarantine there before joining the team bubble,” a team source added.

Similarly, CSK is doing everything necessary to get its players out of the UK as soon as possible. According to CSK’s CEO, Ravindra Jadeja,  Cheteshwar Pujara, and Shardul Thakur will be sent to Dubai on Saturday.

Now that the Test match is off, we are looking to get the CSK boys into Dubai tomorrow,” said Kasi Vishwanathan on Friday.
