In what was a close contest between the top two bowlers, it was the IPL veteran who eventually won it. The winner was decided in the last over of the spell where the prized wicket help the topper topple the holder. In what was a bowling IPL largely, the quality of bowlers was there for everyone to see.

#10 Prasidh Krishna (19)

He had a mixed last week. From being taken to the cleaners in the first qualifier to setting up the game in the second, he had quite a week. Prasidh Krishna finished at the tenth spot with 19 wickets to his name at an average of 29. He conceded runs at 8.28 per over striking every 21 balls.

#9 Harshal Patel (19)

He was RCB’s go-to bowler under pressure this season. Harshal Patel finished with 19 wickets averaging 21.57. His strike rate was an impressive 16.89.

#8 Rashid Khan (19)

The Afghan spinner dropped a couple of spots in the last week. It was largely due to teams preferring to play him cautiously. Rashid Khan ended up with 19 wickets this season. He averaged 22.15 with the ball conceding runs at just 6.59 (best on this list). His strike rate of 20.15 was mighty impressive.

#7 Josh Hazlewood (20)

He continued his good form from the last season. Josh Hazlewood was mighty impressive for RCB. He pocketed 20 wickets this season at an average of 18.85. Josh conceded runs at 8.10 per over striking 13.95 balls.

#6 Mohammad Shami (20)

The GT pacer had a standout IPL season. He now has an IPL crown to his name. Shami picked up 20 wickets at 24.40. He conceded runs at 8 per over striking every 18.30 balls. 

#5 Kuldeep Yadav (21)

His team failed to qualify for the playoffs. Hence he couldn’t add a wicket to his tally of 21 wickets. He averaged 19.95 this season conceding runs at 8.43 per over. Yadav struck every 14.19 balls.

#4 Umran Malik (22)

He was another bowler who couldn’t add much to his tally. India’s new pace bowling rockstar, Umran Malik, finished this season with 22 wickets averaging 20.18 striking every 13.40 balls. His economy rate of 9.03 was on the higher side though.

#3 Kagiso Rabada (23)

Kagiso Rabada was back among the top wicket-takers this season. He finished the season with 23 wickets to his name. Rabada averaged 17.65, striking every 12.52 balls (second-best on this list). His economy rate of 8.45 was a bit on the higher side.

#2 Wanindu Hasaranga (26)

The battle between him and Yuzvendra Chahal went down to the wire. He lost out on the purple cap eventually. Wanindu Hasaranga ended up with 26 wickets this season. He averaged 16.53 with the ball conceding runs at 7.54. Hasaranga struck at 13.15 balls.

He snatched the cap from Hasaranga in the last over of his spell. Yuzvendra Chahal was the deserving winner of the purple cap this season. He picked a total of 26 wickets at an average of 19.51. Chahal conceded runs at 7.75 per over striking every 15.11 balls.
