IPL 2021: List Of All Opening Pairs Ahead Of The Season

Indian Premier League is likely to be played from mid-April this year. All the franchises have bought superstars according to their demand in the team composition in IPL 2021 mini-auction for this season was held recently.

The opening pair, for any team, will be very crucial for the team where they can get a good start and continue with that momentum.

Here’s the list of possible opening pair for all 8 IPL 2021 Team:

Kolkata Knight Riders: Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi

Everybody is aware of the various experiments done by Kolkata Knight Riders in their batting order last year. Shubman Gill is going to open this IPL 2021 year. Rahul Tripathi started a few matches and he was destructive in the powerplay.

Further, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik and Andrew Russell can capitalise for aiming big on the scoreboard.

Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis

Faf Du Plessis will be the ideal opener for CSK. He likes to take the innings deep after playing few shots in the powerplay. But this year, the role might be changed as Ruturaj can do the same thing quite well and we have already seen him scoring match-winning knocks last year in few matches.

Delhi Daredevils: Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan

Delhi Daredevils will keep trust in their openers from last year and go on with the same strategy which helped them reach the finals last year. Prithvi Shaw will be opening the innings but if he lost his form anywhere in between Steven Smith will be the obvious choice for Delhi Daredevils.

Punjab Kings: KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal were amongst the top run-scorers last year in the IPL. Punjab Kings will have no problem with the pair starting as they’re lethal in the powerplay.

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Cock

Defending champions Mumbai Indians will seemingly. Rohit has earlier batted at number 4 too for the team but has been in the opener’s role since 2019 and we all know what Quinton De Cock is capable of doing.

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Butler and Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals finished 8th last year, one of their worst performances of all seasons. One of the main reasons was their constant experiments with Yashaswi Jaiswal, Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes.

Rajasthan Royals should look out for something strong this year and send Sanju Samson upfront for getting the best possible start. Sanju Samson can be very dangerous on his day and can win the match single-handedly.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli

Devdutt Padikkal will be seen in the opening after his impressive first season with RCB and his recent performance in Vijay Hazare is not going unnoticed.

Virat Kohli will be opening with Padikkal to build the innings and we all know Virat Kohli can easily change gears after understanding the pitch behaviour.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner and Johhny Bairstow

Not a good sight for bowlers when they see David Warner and Johnny Bairstow are opening and can be very dangerous if they carry on to bat post powerplay.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a lot of success opening them in front, but it all comes to the middle order and leaving Kane Williamson they’ve no one to rely on to win the watch or scoring big in the end.
