India vs New Zealand Head to Head in ODI World Cup

India and New Zealand have a deep history in ODI World Cup events, both teams always provide an edge of the seat experience to the fans of both nations, and the time has come again to witness two of the biggest teams in the World looking horns in the ICC ODI World Cup semifinal.

The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is on its business end, and we have only 3 games left to witness the winner of the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup.

India, who won all of their nine league stage games, ended the league stage as the top-placed side while New Zealand booked the last berth after winning 5 in 9 games.

According to the format, India will take on New Zealand in the first semi-final of the mega event on November 15 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where India lifted their second ODI World Cup 12 years ago.

The odds are in India’s favour, but there is always a pressure situation when it comes to play against New Zealand.

It was the kiwis in the 2019 World Cup that knocked India out of the tournament after defeating them by 18 runs in the first semi-final, and now both teams are once again gearing up for a faceoff.

Total: 10

India won: 4

New Zealand won: 5

No Result: 1

New Zealand clearly having an edge over India when it comes to World Cup games. However, the ratio is not one sided, but the point to remember here is that India won 3 off their 4 while playing at home.

The Blackcaps were undefeated in the first two editions (1975 and 1979), there was no game between them in 1983 and India finally won, that too back-to-back games in the fourth (1987).

The equation again changed when New Zealand defeated India in 1992 World Cup and then in 1999 World Cup.

India’s only away victory against the Blackcaps came during 2003 World Cup, which was played in South Africa.

Both the teams not met in 2007, 2011, and 2015 World Cups, and then India suffered a heartbreaking semifinal loss in 2019.

The Indian side took the revenge in the 2023 World Cup after beating New Zealand by 5 wickets in the league stage game, and now both teams are ready for their 11th and important clash.

India is looking favouriets to win the semifinal against New Zealand despite the head-to-head numbers favouring the latter. The reason behind it is the men in blue are in record-breaking undefeated spree and also playing in India.

India versus New Zealand semifinal 1 of the ICC World Cup 2023 will start 2 PM IST. The live streaming of the semifinal 1 will be telecasted on the Star Sports Network, while fans can watch the live streaming of the game on the Disney+Hotstar app.
