WTC Final 2023: Sri Lanka’s loss to New Zealand in 1st test hand India WTC final ticket 

India qualify for WTC final:Sri Lanka defeat to New Zealand made India’s way clear to play the second-straight World Test Championship final in June.  

The Island team were required to win both of their test matches against New Zealand to remain in hunt for the WTC final, but their loss in the first game provided India another chance to play the World Test Championship final.  

Sri Lanka, however, played good cricket in the game, as they have posted 300-plus runs in both the innings, and set the target of 285 for New Zealand, and then kept on taking wickets at intervals, but the ex-skipper of New Zealand, Kane Williamson stood tall above all odds and smashed an unbeaten 121 to secure a victory for his side on the fifth day of the first test match.

And a win of the first WTC winner, New Zealand over Sri Lanka, cleared the way for India to play Australia in WTC 2023 final at the Oval.  

The classic Test cricket format has gained a new level of interest because to the World Test Championship. It has been shown to be a useful tool for evaluating and contrasting teams from all around the world, despite some critics. This became especially clear when India and Australia squared up in the third Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 Test. 

Australia has advanced to the big event’s final, with their victory over India in the third Test at Indore in the BGT 2023.  

And now India, thanks to Sri Lanka, managed to qualify for their second WTC final.  

Earlier, India and New Zealand played the first-ever World Test Championship in 2021; India lost to New Zealand in the WTC final at Southampton by an eight-wicket margin. 

Although Virat Kohli’s squad had a strong start to the Test match, there were times when they were not at their best. In the end, the Blackcaps were the superior team, and they were duly declared victors in Southampton. 

The WTC final 2023 between India and Australia will begin on June 7 at the Oval in London.

India vs Australia 4th BGT summary:  

Australia started the game on a high note, thanks to Usman Khawaja’s brilliant 180-run knock, as the visitors posted 480 on board in their first innings.  

India, in reply, managed to take 91-run lead over Aussies, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s 28th test ton, and the young Shubman Gill’s 128.  

With the final day of the test match is going on, and Australia are at 73 for 1, while writing this piece, it is likely that this match will be end as draw, and India will win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 2-1.
