India beat New Zealand by 4 Wickets: Calm and Composed King Kohli Finishes Job for India

INDIA vs New Zealand Match 21 Highlights

IND vs NZ Match Highlight: India beat New Zealand by 4 wickets and after 20 years India’s team registered a victory against New Zealand in ICC World Cup. Early on India after winning the toss once yet again elected to bowl first with the due factor at Dharamsala in mind. India started off the innings in a pretty good fashion. 

Md Siraj and Md Shami both sent the Kiwi openers back to the pavilion inside 8 overs. With the fall of two early wickets, New Zealand were in deep deep trouble. 

In came Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell who held the rope tight and made sure they did not lose their wicket. Both Rachin and Mitchell put together a 159-run partnership to save New Zealand putting on a low total.

King Kohli the Goat of Chasing 

It was simply amazing to watch King Kohli dominate the pitch with his calm and composed innings. Kohli who is known as chase master made sure that India was never out of control. 

Even though Kohli was just five runs away from equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI centuries, he played a brilliant innings of 95 runs from 104 balls. His amazing knock had 8 fours and two sixes. 

King Kohli was simply at his best, he was calm and composed in dealing with the Kiwi bowlers. 

Rohit and Gill Provide the Much needed Start for India 

The Indian openers started off the innings in good fashion as both the openers went on to 71 before Rohit Sharma fell prey to Lockie Ferguson in the 12th over. Rohit once again failed to score fifty as he was dismissed for 46 runs from 40 balls.

New Zealand Fight Back to stay in the game

Early on in the innings, Rachin Ravindra was dropped by Jadeja, Rachin made proper use of this drop catch as he went on to score 75 runs from 87 balls. While supporting him Daryl Mitchell was on another level with the kind of shots he was playing against Indian bowlers. 

Daryl Mitchell scored his first-ever ICC World Cup century. He made sure that New Zealand was never out of the game. Mitchell scored 130 off 127 balls before getting dismissed by Md Shami in the very last over of the innings. 

Shami Stylish Comeback: Indian Bowlers Dominate 

Siraj was the first Indian bowler to break New Zealand batsman as he picked out Devon Conway in the 3rd over of the Innings. In a game-changing move, Mohammed Shami stepped onto the field in Dharamshala. Today, Shami silenced the doubters with a spectacular performance. 

He not only broke the stumps once but twice, demolishing the NZ lower order with four wickets. Shami’s five-wicket haul became the talk of the town, proving that he’s an indispensable asset for Team India. While Kuldeep Yadav also had his share of wickets as he picked up two wickets. Bumrah also picked up a wicket in his spell. 

This amazing bowling performance from India made sure that New Zealand did not score 300+ runs. Eventually, New Zealand was restricted to 273/10 in 50 overs. 

India Maintains their Top spot in the Points table 

After almost 20 years India finally beat New Zealand in the World Cup campaign also letting India remain in the top spot with 10 points from five games. It was a dominant performance from team India to show why they are the best team in the world huge thanks to Md Shami and Virat Kohli’s amazing performances.
