IND vs BAN Highlights: India maintained their dominance in World Cup 2023 by defeating Bangladesh in the 17th match of the mega event on Thursday.  

India got off to a strong start chasing a target of 257 thanks to an 88-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, while Virat Kohli again displayed his mastery in chasing by scoring an unbeaten century. He finished the game in Dhoni’s style, hitting a six for his 48th ODI century. 

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 256 runs on board with the help of Liton Das 66 and Mahmadullah’s 46.

Batting first, Bangladesh started their innings on a steady note and with 63 for none after 10 they were looking in good touch, but as soon as Tanzid got out for 51, the Bangla Tigers lost their track.  

Liton Das (66) tried his best and scored the most runs for his side, while Musfiqur Rahim’s 38 and Mahmudullah’s 46 helped Bangladesh to put 256 on board.  

Japrit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja took 2-2 wickets each for India.  

IND vs BAN Highlights: India to chase 257 in 50 overs  

India in response started on a flying note with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were smashing boundaries all over the park.  

Indian skipper was looking in good touch but was caught at the boundary while trying to hit a six. He missed his fifty by 2 runs.  

Shubman Gill completed his first fifty in the World Cup after missing the first two games in the contest due to dengue, Gill, however, didn’t manage to convert it to a century as he walked back after scoring 53. 

Virat Kohli was the star of the show again for India as despite only having 169 to chase when he came on crease, he went on to score unbeaten 103 off 97. This marked his 48th ODI century and 78th overall in international cricket which is the second best after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (100 centuries).  

KL Rahul provided full support to Kohli from the other end with his ball to ball 34.  

With this win, India remained on second spot at the World Cup 2023 points table. India to play their next match against New Zealand on October 22. Bangladesh with one win and 3 losses, sitting in seventh spot.
