Former skipper Virat Kohli played a game-changing and impressive knock of 186 to boost India

IND vs AUS 4th Test Match Highlights: This game is still interestingly poised, Virat’s determined hundred, ensured India did get ahead and get a decent lead. 91 isn’t sizeable enough to put loads of pressure on Australia because the pitch hasn’t cracked up and it is still good enough for batting on the final and fifth days of the test match.

The day’s play started with Virat and Jadeja on the crease. Jadeja was initially restrained because the offspinner’s angle from around the wicket was problematic, especially the straighter ones.

But he was able to withstand those for a while before growing impatient with Todd Murphy. He tried to smash out against Murphy three times in one over, managing a boundary and a mishit before holing out to mid-on to conclude his stay at 28 from 84 balls.

While Shreyas Iyer had to be taken for scans after complaining of lower back pain, Kohli remained staunch in run accumulation and lowered his head even more with the arrival of KS Bharat.

IND vs AUS: A Complete team performance from Team India

Following the keeper’s slog sweeping of Lyon for a six, Kohli and Bharat put up another vigilant stand where they both bided their time. In order to rotate striking a little more freely, the pair had to wait for the tempo to go up.

It was only the third occasion in India’s Test history that there had been a 50-plus partnership for each of the first five wickets when they put on a 50-plus stand together by the time of lunch.

IND vs AUS: Star players of the Day

Former Indian Skipper Virat Kohli took the problem into his hands and made sure that he played sensibly. Virat played really well and showed that in order to score a century you don’t need to depend on boundaries when Virat reached his century he scored five boundaries and the rest were single and double’s. Kohli also scored his century after 1204 days.

Virat Kohli did not stop after scoring a century as he went on to score 186 runs from 364 balls. He smashed 15 boundaries in his incredible knock to help India to take the lead in the final and fourth test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Axar Patel also played a master full innings to help India taking lead. Axar Patel was dismissed for 79 runs from 113 balls, but Axar’s innings gave India the much-needed boost.

KS Bharat also played beautiful came but couldn’t convert them into big runs as he was taken out by Lyon after he scored 42 runs from 121 balls.

IND vs AUS: Comeback into the test match with the help of players like Virat

In addition to being a significant personal accomplishment for Kohli, the Indian squad greatly benefited from his century in the fourth Test match. India’s first innings goal, a staggering 480 runs, was being pursued.

India is up 2-1 in the series. However, India must win this match to easily go to the World Test Championship Finals otherwise, they would depend on the New Zealand-Sri Lanka Test Series.

Australia’s total at day four’s stumps is 3 runs for 0 wickets. India needs both a favourable surface for their bowlers and some errant strokes from the Australian hitters to pull off the triumph in this final test match here at Ahmedabad.
