ICC ODI World Cup All Team Squad 2023

We are just a few days away to see ten teams in action in the most prestigious cricketing event, ICC ODI World Cup.  

With the marquee event approaching all the boards are making all their efforts to choose the best 15-member squad to represent their country with some already announced their squads.

Afghanistan 

The Afghanistan board has selected a nearly full strength team with fast bowler Naveen ul Haq returned to the side considering his experience playing in Indian conditions.

He was a part of team Lucknow Super Giants during the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hashmatullah Shahidi will be seen leading the team, while Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Faroori, and Rahnamullah Gurbaaz, and Ibrahim Zadran will remain the star attraction.

Australia  

The WTC winning captain Pat Cummins will also lead the Australia team in the fifty over World Cup.  

Australia have added all of their star and in-form players in the squad and are looking pretty solid on paper. From David Warner to Mitchell Starc the squad looks pretty promising.

Bangladesh 

Bangladesh became the last team to announce their squad for the World Cup in India. Shakib as expected will lead the side while Najmul Hossain Shanto has been appointed as his deputy for the mega contest.

England 

The defending champions are ready to roar in the World Cup with their star line-up. Most of the members of the squad know the Indian conditions well due to IPL (Indian Premier League) which will benefit to settle early.  

The Team is riding high on destructive openers, anchor middle-order batters, quality all-rounders, and proven bowlers. 2019 World Cup Player of the tournament Ben Stokes, who last year announced his ODI retirement, reversed his decision and has been included in the squad.

India 

The Indian side will consist of seven batters, four all-rounders, and four bowler formula. As the World Cup will be played in India and the role of spinner will be much bigger in Indian conditions. The BCCI has decided to go with three left-arm spinners, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patal and Kuldeep Yadav.  

Rohit Sharma will lead the side while Hardik Pandya will serve as the vice-captain of the side.  

Veteran wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul, whose injury was a big concern, is also part of the squad that strengthen Indian middle order more.

Netherlands 

Netherlands announced a full-strength team for their participation in the world cup alongside top ranked teams in the cricket world.

Scott Edwards will be the skipper of team Netherlands, while the experieced campainger Max O’Dowd, Bas de Leede, Colin Ackermann, Logan van Beek are present in the squad.

New Zeland 

Kane Williamson and Tim Southee have been added to a seasoned New Zealand lineup for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India.

Despite not playing any professional cricket this year, Kane Williamson will return to skipper New Zealand in the World Cup in fine shape.

Tim Southee will also play for New Zealand in the World Cup for the fourth time.

The roster appears to be well-balanced, with all of the players having significant international experience. Six of the fifteen players in the New Zealand World Cup squad will be making their debut.

Pakistan 

Pakistan faced a big setback right before the mega tournament, as their star swing bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to an injury.

PCB has named Hasan Ali as his replacement, while the Pakistan team consists of bunch of ecperienced as well as young players, who will play their first World Cup.

South Africa  

The Temba Bavuma-led side looking pretty decent on paper, with some of their big players already fond of Indian pitches, while some also having good record while playing in India.  

The top-order looks sorted with quinton de Kock’s presence, while Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller also there in the squad as bowler hitters. 

South Africa’s strongest department in this world cup would definitely be their bowling. Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada are the leading past bowlers, while Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj will be the best spinner-duo in the squad.

Sri Lanka 

With 28th being the last date to announce the world cup squad, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has finally made public their squad for the marque event with a shocking exclusion due to injury.

Their star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the world cup 2023 due to hamstring injury, while the pacer Dushmantha Chammera will also miss out with shoulder injury.

There were some speculations that the board may change the skipper, but they have given the role to Dasun Shanaka again while Kusal Mendis will remain hhis deputy.
