Sri Lanka Revisits Squad for Commonwealth Games 2022

It is for the first time that Women’s cricket is being introduced in the Commonwealth Games. 

At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, women’s cricket will make its debut in one of its quickest and most thrilling variants, the T20 format.

The inaugural T20 International will be played by women at Birmingham 2022 will mark the first time that both the T20 format and the women’s game are included at a Commonwealth Games!

A men’s 50-over competition of cricket was played once, in Kuala Lumpur in 1998. At that time, South Africa took home the gold.

Following the same, the Srilanka Cricket Board has made changes to their regular squad and has released a list of squad members for the Commonwealth Games 2022. 

Despite being a member of the team that faced India in a limited-overs series, Sathya Sandeepani, Kaushani Nuthyangana, Hansima Karunaratne, and Tharika Sewwandi have been left out of Sri Lanka’s roster for the 2017 Commonwealth games, which will be held in Birmingham and begin on July 28.

Once more, Chamari Athapaththu will captain the team. Additionally, Sri Lanka will be hoping that promising all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari puts up noteworthy performances along with some of the other important players on the team like Inoka Ranaweera and Oshadi Ranasinghe.
