Rohit Sharma wants tri-series, quadrangular series in white-ball cricket

India captain Rohit Sharma has expressed his thoughts for the return of the multi-team white-ball series, which used to be extremely popular a few years ago. Here in this article we talk about Rohit Sharma views on tri series.

The calendars of teams in preparation for World Cups, whether 20-over or 50-over, have been jam-packed with series after series, leaving the regulars little to no time to relax; otherwise, the boards must choose second-string sides to fulfil the requirements of the Future Tours Program.

The modern-day great Rohit believes that if the players are given adequate time to recover, the calibre of cricket can increase.

Why Rohit Sharma wants tri-series, quadrangular series in white-ball cricket?

“I do think it is important but it can be managed in a better way for sure. The scheduling has to be done with some space as well. You have to play bilateral series. There was a time when we were kids, I grew up, I watched a lot of tri-series or quadrangular series, but that has completely stopped,” Rohit pointed out.

“I think that can be a way forward so that there is enough time for a team to recover and get back.”

Rohit also added that the intensity in the matches cannot take a back seat and the boards will have to work on the scheduling.

“You do not want to compromise on that [intensity] so of course, I do understand when we play the bilateral series, the scheduling, time between each game can be managed slightly better, not just from India’s perspective, but all boards,” said Sharma.

“If that happens, you see the best quality of players coming out and representing every game. When you play back-to-back games, you have to look after players and understand the workload.

“Honestly, from the outside world, people want to see all the best players playing and if those things are managed quite well, the quality of cricket will not be compromised,” he added.

Before the ODI series, India and England locked horns in 3-match series, which India won by 2-1. In the ODIs, India won the first match while England defeated the visitors in the second match and the third and final match at Old Trafford, Manchester on Sunday will decide the winner of the series.
